Pomodoro timer

The study timer in the top-right corner — what it does to the rest of the app, and where its settings live.

The clock in the top-right corner, beside search and the notification bell, is a pomodoro timer: a focus block, a short break, and a longer break after every fourth focus block. Click it for the controls.

Two presets — 25 · 5 and 50 · 10 — or your own minutes for all three phases. Changing the minutes restarts the block you are in at the new length.

What it does to the app#

While it is running, the phase is on the whole interface, not just on the widget. Every bar in the app takes a wash — indigo while you are focusing, green on a break — and a thin frame of the same colour sits at the edge of the window. Whichever page you are on, and whichever board, the app says which half of the cycle you are in.

The countdown also rides the browser tab's title, so a MySummaries tab in the background still tells you how long is left. A block ending chimes.

Time is kept against the clock, not against the page: moving between boards, backgrounding the tab or reloading loses nothing. Pausing, skipping to the next phase and resetting the current one are all in the widget's menu.

Where the settings live#

The durations are saved to your account rather than to this browser, so every device you sign in on starts from the same numbers. Where you are in the current block is not — that stays on the device that started it, which is why closing the tab mid-block and opening it elsewhere does not carry the running clock across.

On a narrow window the widget is hidden — the bar has better uses for a third of a phone screen — but the timer keeps running, and the coloured frame still says which phase you are in.
