Revision planner

A free day-by-day revision calendar on mysummaries.app, worked out from your exam date, your topics and your hours a week, with no account.

The revision planner is a free page on mysummaries.app. Enter your exam date, your topics and the hours you have each week, and it lays out a calendar from your start date to the exam, with every topic reviewed at widening gaps. It works for any date you are working towards.

It needs no account, and nothing is sent anywhere: the plan is worked out in your browser. It is separate from the app, and does not read or change your boards.

Filling it in#

  • Exam (optional): its name, for example CFA Level I. It labels the exam day.
  • Exam date: the day of the exam. It gets no sessions of its own.
  • Start revising: the first day to plan from. It starts as today.
  • Hours a week: how much time you have, from 1 to 100. It starts at 8.
  • Topics: one per line, up to 100. Blank lines and repeats are dropped.

The calendar updates as you type. If something is missing or wrong (no exam date, a date that has passed, a start on or after the exam, no topics, no hours), the page says what to fix instead.

How the plan is made#

Each topic gets a first session of an hour, then 20-minute reviews 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days later, and every 30 days after that, all before the exam day. First sessions are spread over the first two-thirds of the time you have, in the order you listed the topics.

Weeks run Monday to Sunday. A session that would take its week over your hours moves to the next day with room. One that cannot fit before the exam, or before its next review is due, is left out, and the page lists what was left out above the calendar. Add hours a week, or start earlier, to fit it in.

Above the calendar, the page counts the days to the exam and the sessions planned. Each week shows the time it uses against your hours, and each day lists its topics, marked as a first session or a numbered review, with the minutes.

Keeping it#

The plan lives in the page's address, so the link is the plan: bookmark it, or send it to someone, and it opens with the same answers.

  • Download for your calendar (.ics) saves the plan as one all-day event for each day with sessions, and one for the exam. Downloading a changed plan again and importing it updates the same days rather than adding a second copy.
  • Print prints the calendar.

From a plan to a board#

Turn these topics into a board signs you up for a free MySummaries account. With an exam named, the subject you set up first is filled in with that exam's name. From there, each topic can become a board of your notes, with flashcards scheduled for you; see subjects. The planner's calendar does not carry into the app.
